Yep. I decided to bite the bullet and bring
School Spirit properly to life with full colour strips each time.
I like to think the feel of their world is light, happy and innocently
optimistic but I've been feeling that black and white strips didn't
really do it justice. Add to this enough responses lately that have
basically been telling me the same thing and I decided to give it
a go. Besides, I think I've got enough of a handle on the colouring
style of the larger strips to pull it off each time.
So today begins School Spirit's full colour
comics. Not only is today's comic full colour, but I've gone back
and recoloured previous comics as well. In fact, right back to strip
101, which, if the updater has worked correctly, will be online,
along with all of the strips in between. I'll probably periodically
replace the first 100 strips with coloured renditions too.
Filesize hasn't been too much of an issue,
either. Most of the strips are under 100kb, and shouldn't affect
slow connections too much at all, something I wanted to be certain
of. The average size seems to be between 70 and 80 kb now, not a
bad compromise, I thought.
Hopefully you like the new approach and you
find School Spirit just as enjoyable as before, if not moreso. Let
me know what you think, I think it's a major revamp, and possibly
a little risky as well.
