I think New Zealand may have beaten us to giving women the vote, but pretty certain Australia was one of the first in the world. Given the vote in 1902 to vote and stand in the 1903 elections. Mind you, it took another forty years or so for a women to be elected to government at all, but some things take longer than others, eh?

Such as Australia’s indigenous people not officially getting the vote till the 60s, but that’s one error that was remedied forty five years ago now.
