Maybe this would be an appropriate time to explain the classroom structures in School Spirit. The grades are arranged into what are known as Composite Classes. That means each grade is generally made up of two grade levels, in this case, the main Kids are in a combined grade five and six class, and these little tackers are in a combined grade three and four class.

Some schools still work purely with single grade classes, but a good number, particularly down in this corner of Australia, work with composite grades for many different reasons. Without going into any more detail, Mr V thinks they’re a great way to organise a class for both social and educational reasons, whereas Mr Q, having been schooled in another state, had never heard of the system and can’t understand it!
