I know the swimming events are always first up in the Olympics, but to fit the story and the set up and all that, it had to come in later.
Jacks has a turn next time.
Perfect comeback by Jacks:
“And if you’d landed wrong, you silly drongo, it WOULD’ve been deadly!”
What has been your favorite olympic sport to watch? One Chinese man competing had the name Hu and a commentator said it reminded him of an Abbott and Costello skit (Who’s on First?). My favorite is figure skating; sadly it is not in the summer olympics.
I’ve been trying to catch the Hockey as much as I can. The Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos are always right up there, but unfortunately the Olympics and Commonwealth games are the only times we see them on telly. I’ve kept track of the Opals in the basketball as well, but the Boomers have usually been playing too early in the mornings to catch them.
Otherwise, pretty much whatever has some Aussie giving it a go – long jump, rowing, the volleyball, whatever’s on when I can be awake to give it a look.
Olympic Hockey isn’t for another 2 years. Winter Olympics event Football is the Summer equivalent.
We don’t tend to have ice hockey teams here… there’s a definite lack of cold and snow. We’ll stick with summer sports, or winter sports that are only winter because the rain is colder.
would you believe there is a professional hockey league here in Texas?
it’s true, and the ONLY ice available to the teams is in the actual sports arenas. seems the teams down here don’t quite measures up to the teams further north (where they get to practice outside), but those northern teams admit the crowds’ enthusiasm puts those up north to shame.
