Most every house here has a basement, though it is usually only older houses which have an attic. Houses in the Southern U.S. tend to lack a basement though. I'm sure Jacks appreciates a warm bath after getting that cold water dumped on him in the previous strip! Fact! I've also never seen a house here with an attic either! We do have manholes to get up into the roof, and maybe store things up in the roof rafters, but basements and attics are definitely not a common household structure down here.
