Holy history of hot dog toppings, Batman. Condensed down, it means “People like different things on their hot dogs.”

Sounds like bunghole has pretty much the same meaning in both places.

I have to admit, the Americans are great when it comes to making what looks like an awesome hot dog. I’m happy with a bit of mustard sauce and some grated cheese. :)

And… I can probably guess what bunghole means… but down here it’s cheese… for it’s nasty habit of bunging up your hole. :)

I don’t think you want to know what “bunghole” means to Northern Hemisphere English speakers. :D :D

Up here, hot dogs are usually served with Ketchup/Catsup (“Sauce” to the Brits), prepared mustard, and sometimes with sweet pickle relish and/or chopped onions. Some indulgent people might spread Mayonnaise/Whipped Egg-based salad dressing (“Miracle Whip”) on the bun first.

If it’s actually sausage on a bun (like a brat, etc), then mustard, onions and sauerkraut is the typical fare.
