The various football codes in Australia tend to have their Grand Finals about this time of year. It’s usually a transition period between the winter and summer sports. Some think ‘Hooray! Real Sport is finally starting again!’, and some thing ‘Damn, now there’s only Silly Sports on telly.’ Many just change the colours they wear and go on watching.
Unfortunately though, this period means about a month of the Spring Racing Carnival. Horse racing bores me.
