Aunty Jack, an Australian television character from the 1970s, immortalised that final phrase of Mavis’ in the show of the same name. Aunty Jack was a great big bloke dressed in a dress wearing a boxing glove on one hand who still spoke with a gruff, deep voice. You can sing along with the Aunty Jack theme song and hear the quote in it’s proper place.
The Aunty Jack show was the first television program to ever broadcast in colour. The country was supposed to switch to colour all at the same time, but the Aunty Jack Show pulled a swifty and did it halfway through their own show about half an hour earlier!
